Tips for COVID-19: DYI Disinfectant Spray

If my 6-months-ago-self could look at my current self in the COVID-19 era, I would think that I had an extreme case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.  Back then, disinfectant was used only when a flu or gastro went through the house.  Today, my bottle of Lysol comes out on the daily!

My daily Lysol ritual was the inspiration for this blog.  What if you run out of the commercial disinfectant? What if the store sell out?  Do you have ingredients at home to make a decent disinfectant?    If you have any of the following, you can make your own;

- Bleach

- Vinegar

- Rubbing Alcohol

- Vodka (yeah, mama!)

- Essential oil for a pretty scent (optional). Tea Tree Oil has antibacterial properties, but the smell might be too strong for some people.

THE MIXTURES

BLEACH SPRAY : Add 1 TBSP of bleach to 1 gallon (16 cups of water)

VINEGAR SPRAY : Add 2 cups of vinegar to 2 cups of water

RUBBING ALCOHOL : Add 2 cups of rubbing alcohol to 2 cups water

VODKA : a little in your glass & a little in the spray bottle. Hehe. Add 2 cups of Vodka to 2 cups of water for the spray.

INSTRUCTIONS

Spray surface with the disinfectant mixtures.  Let rest for 10 mins.  Wipe with clean cloth.

Well, I hope that was helpful in case you run out (or stores sell out) of commercial disinfectant!

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Wash your hands.
